To the editor:

Homeowners can be doing everything right and still be going in the hole because of the way the city spends money. The recreation center, the library and the bus system operate in the red. Every time a builder puts two boards together they get a tax abatement. Your tax dollars. The Farmland project will cost the city a lot of money.

I believe the city, county and school board’s answer to everything is to raise taxes. I don’t think they give a darn about people who are struggling. If they did, they would not raise taxes.

I believe the city is large enough that we should be represented by districts. For example: Divide the city into five districts. One commissioner from each district. The people in North Lawrence have different problems than those off 31st Street.
