Letter to the editor: Debt delusion

To the editor:

Yes, it’s true that Kansas has gone from a “low” to “moderate” debt state in the last 13 years. Yes, it’s true that the debt-per-capita is almost 100 times higher than Nebraska’s. But the editorial arguing that Kansas legislators shouldn’t look at the federal debt crisis is a feeble exercise in making a mountain into a molehill. According to Mike Patton in Forbes, the federal debt per citizen is over $154,000. It seems to me the editors should be arguing FOR a convention among the states, except for their thinly veiled disdain for those dumdums in the state Capitol.
