Despite pounding 17 hits Friday, Lawrence High’s baseball team couldn’t recover from an early deficit in a 12-8 loss to Lee’s Summit (Mo.) West at Willard High.

Batting leadoff, Andrew Stewart went 5-for-5 with three runs, while Austin Quick hit a home run and had four RBI. But the Titans jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the fourth inning, scoring eight in the fourth.

The Lions (0-2) will play host to Gardner Edgerton at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
