Perry-Lecompton basketball falls in 3A quarterfinals

Playing in the state tournament for the first time since 1982, Perry-Lecompton’s boys basketball team suffered a 53-35 loss to Cheney in the Class 3A quarterfinals on Wednesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The Kaws, who finished with a 20-4 record, were hurt by their 22 turnovers and couldn’t overcome a 13-point halftime deficit. Senior Canaan Daniels led with 13 points while junior Colton Mallonee had 11 points and eight rebounds. Junior Connor Anderson added six points and five boards.
