Former Free State golfer wins tournament in Salina

Coleman Houk put together a strong final round to win the Saline County Medal this past weekend.

Houk, who will be a senior this fall at Kansas Wesleyan University, never let his lead get below four strokes during his final round. After entering the day with a four-shot advantage, Houk notched first by shooting a 4-under 67 to claim first place at GreatLife Golf in Salina.

The former Free State golfer finished with a final three-day total of 70-67-67–204 to take home the title. Houk finished fifth in the same event last summer. The 8-under 204 was two strokes back of the tournament record, which was set by Steve Brown in 1979.
