To the editor:

Enough is enough. I don’t care if the police stop you for speeding, running a red light or a broken taillight. Once stopped by a police officer it is your duty to follow his/her instructions, period.

They stopped you for — in their mind — good cause, and any argument you wish to make should not be taken up with them but at a later date with a supervisor. Not obeying a police officer, no matter how wrong you believe they are, will not result in a good response to you.

By obeying every request or demand by a police officer, you will in fact gain their respect and allow for an open discussion of the events at hand.

If you are belligerent, outraged and disobedient, the only action a police officer has left is to contain your outrage by arresting you by any necessary means. They deal with killers, drunks, person high on drugs, felons, etc. They cannot tell the difference by appearance if you are fighting and disrespectful.

How hard is it to hold your head up high and say “Yes, officer, what would you like me to do,” and then do it?
