Letter to the editor: Sensational headline

To the editor:

A recent Journal-World headline really shows that all you’re interested in is drama and sensationalism.

If a black man is shot by a policeman it’s big news and if you can state that he is a father of six children it’s even better. After digging deep into the article, it does report that “court records show that Lewis had a history of repeat citations for traffic violations, including driving without a license.”

An outstanding warrant had been issued because of a missed court date. You think that may have escalated the concern of the police a little?

How about if this man was the father of six children maybe he should have been obeying the seat-belt law and none of this altercation would have happened. He might have been going through tough times, but don’t heighten the issue with the police, especially if you have outstanding offenses.
