Fire damages Lawrence trailer home

Firefighters put out a fire inside a trailer home Friday in Lawrence.

Smoke coming from the mobile home was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. in the trailer community at 100 Arkansas Street, said Division Chief and Fire Marshal James King of Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical. When firefighters arrived they found a fire inside the home.

King said the fire was under control by about 11:45 a.m.

The trailer was occupied but no one was home when the fire broke out, King said. No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday afternoon, as did the amount of damage it caused, King said.

The property was “in poor condition” to start with, making it difficult to estimate damages at a glance, King said. He said the fire was confined to the trailer’s interior.
