Melle Dye wins title, LHS wrestling 11th at BVNW Invitational

Lawrence High senior Melle Dye won all four of his matches and took first place at 145 pounds in the Husky Wrestling Invitational at Blue Valley Northwest on Saturday.

Dye, who remains unbeaten this year, won his last three matches by decisions, including a 5-2 victory over Pleasant Hill’s Gabe Hodge in the championship. His twin brother, Relle Dye, finished third at 138 pounds with a 4-1 record. Relle Dye won by a 10-9 decision in the third-place match.

Jay Cheatham was fourth at 152 pounds, helping the Lions place 11th in the team standings with 94 points.
