LHS girls shoot past Lee’s Summit

Seniors Talima Harjo and E’lease Stafford combined for 33 points and Lawrence High’s girls basketball team earned a 57-45 victory against Lee’s Summit (Mo.) on Wednesday in the Truman Tournament.

Stafford scored eight of her team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter while Harjo had nine points in the first half. Lee’s Summit’s Claire Lock, a UMKC signee, scored 31.

“We have to still do a better job playing defense with our feet and not our hands,” LHS coach Jeff Dickson said. “Talima did a good job being active on offense and gave us a big boost.”

The Lions (7-3, ranked No. 9 in Class 6A) will play Blue Springs (Mo.) South in the fifth-place game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
