Both of Lawrence High’s basketball teams will open the postseason with home games next week.

The LHS girls basketball team (16-4) earned the No. 2 in the Class 6A east sub-state bracket and will face No. 15 seed Shawnee Mission East (2-18) in the first round at 7 p.m. Tuesday at LHS. With a win, the Lions would play host to No. 7 Olathe South (13-7) or No. 10 Blue Valley West (8-11) for a spot at state on Friday.

Lawrence’s boys basketball team (11-9) was seeded sixth and will play host to No. 11 seed Shawnee Mission Northwest (9-11) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Free State’s boys basketball team (15-5) is the No. 2 seed in the 6A west bracket, opening against No. 15 seed Hutchinson (4-15) at 6 p.m. Wednesday. If the Firebirds advance, they will play host to seventh-seeded Manhattan (11-9) or 10th-seeded Wichita North (9-11) on Saturday.

The FSHS girls basketball team (5-15) is seeded 13th and will go on the road to play Washburn Rural (fourth seed, 16-4) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Sub-state girls finals are Friday and sub-state boys finals are Saturday.
