The Lawrence High softball team split its home doubleheader against Gardner Edgerton on Thursday — winning Game 1, 11-1, before falling in the nightcap, 17-1.

The Lions run-ruled the Trailblazers in five innings in Game 1 thanks to an eight-run fifth. Zoe Brewer, Kampbell Kilburn, Abby Monroe, Karly Johnson and Chandler Guffey paced the Lions with two hits each. Angelina Harjo homered to highlight the opener.

The Trailblazers scored 10 runs in the third of Game 2 to run-rule the Lions in four innings.

Lawrence High (7-8) will play host to St. James Academy at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
