Free State baseball walks off Maize, 4-3

Free State’s baseball team scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday to stun Maize in a 4-3 comeback win at FSHS in the River City Festival.

Peyton Sparks started the seventh-inning rally with an RBI infield single to score Harrison Hughes. Quinton Graham, a pinch hitter, added an RBI single and Cam Karlin scored on a groundout. Tied with two outs, Mitchell Clark drew a game-winning walk with the bases loaded on four pitches.

The Firebirds (7-5) are scheduled to play Belton (Mo.) at 11:15 a.m. today at Hoglund Ballpark.
