Free State golfer Landon Berquist placed eighth at the Leavenworth Invitational on Thursday, one of three Free State golfers to place in the Top 20 at Trails West Golf Course.

Berquist carded a 79, ahead of teammates Dylan Sommer and Andrew Park, who both shot an 82 and tied for 14th place. The Firebirds took fifth in the team standings with 335 strokes while Lawrence High was seventh with 382.

Chris Conway led the Lions with an 89, taking 26th place. Ross Brungardt followed with a 90 for 29th.
