After suffering a five-set loss to Santa Clara on Friday night, the Kansas volleyball team bounced back Saturday afternoon with a four-set victory over Idaho (25-23, 21-25, 25-15, 26-24) to conclude nonconference play at Leavey Center in Santa Clara, Calif.

Senior right side hitter Kelsie Payne notched a match-high 18 kills on a .410 hit percentage, and sophomore outside hitter Ashley Smith added a career-high 13 kills. The No. 9-ranked Jayhawks improved to 11-2.

Kansas coach Ray Bechard said the Jayhawks made a rotational change defensively after the first two sets, and it paid off by holding Idaho (5-6) to a much lower hit percentage. Senior Madison Rigdon recorded a team-high 17 digs and Tori Miller had 16 digs, both players setting career highs.

The Jayhawks will begin Big 12 play when they travel to Kansas State at noon on Sept. 24.
