On Sept. 18, 2017, Lawrence will celebrate its 163rd birthday. We remember our lively history through signs and symbols all over town in our neighborhoods and parks and public buildings.

Sesquicentennial Point features a Walk through Time, beginning with 1854 and a tribute to Amos Lawrence, Plymouth Congregational Church and the First United Methodist Church. At the 2004 mark, a time capsule awaits the citizens of 2054, who will open it for Lawrence’s bicentennial.

By 2054, the Walk through Time will have stones for 200 years of Lawrence history, stopping at the foot of an amphitheater overlooking Clinton Lake. This beautiful space will make history of its own with events like Theatre in the Park, concerts, awards ceremonies and festivals of all kinds.
