LHS gymnastics 3rd, FSHS 4th at SMS quad
Free State freshman Talia Gay posted the highest scores in the vault and uneven bars Tuesday, winning an all-around title at the Shawnee Mission South quadrangular.
Gay and freshman Mikyla Williams were the only competitors for the Firebirds, who took fourth place as a team. Gay scored an 8.8 in the vault, 8.8 on the floor exercise and 9.0 on the bars. Williams recorded an 8.8 on the balance beam.
Lawrence High’s gymnastics team finished third, led by senior Eliana Seidner in the vault (8.3) and bars (7.8), and junior Josie Hickerson on the beam (8.3) and floor (8.65).
Both schools will compete in the Free State Invitational at 11 a.m. Saturday.
