Seabury’s Nelson runs to second at Wamego
Bishop Seabury sophomore Henry Nelson placed second in the Class 3-2-1A boys division of the Wamego Invitational on Saturday at Wamego Country Club.
Seabury’s boys cross country team didn’t have enough runners to qualify in the team standings, but Nelson was runner-up in 17:10, more than 40 seconds ahead of third place.
Sophomore Sami Dennon paced Seabury’s girls cross country team in 12th place, running in a personal-best 22:39. Sophomore Sabrina Eicher followed in 38th place, helping the Seahawks to seventh in the team standings.
In the Class 4A races, Baldwin’s girls cross country team won a team title while Eudora placed third. Baldwin freshman Ambrynn Stewart was runner-up in 20:19 and junior Natalie Beiter finished fourth in 20:41.
For the boys, Eudora’s cross country team took fourth and Tonganoxie placed fifth. Baldwin junior Jacob Bailey took eighth in 17:20 and senior Parker Wilson followed in 12th.
