To the editor:

I had an opportunity to meet Chad Lawhorn, who was the guest speaker at the Welcome Club luncheon at the Country Club.

Chad Lawhorn was a fine speaker and as the Journal-World newspaper editor is very knowledgeable about Lawrence and surrounding areas.

An opportunity to ask him questions was very interesting. One question was about women’s sports and why they were not recognized as often as others. The group clapped and smiled!

Lo and behold — Did you see the blue heading on a recent Friday paper?

“KU Celebrates 50 years of women’s sports,” and the front page of the sports section was a great picture of Grace Hagan preparing for national sports attention!

Thank you, Chad Lawhorn. You pleased a group of happy ladies. You heard, you listened, and you followed through!
