Letter to the editor: A few questions

To the editor:

The following are questions I would like to have your readers consider:

  1. What will be the result of increasing taxes and the number of taxes?

  2. Will the number of consumers decrease, thus less merchandise bought?

  3. What is the purpose of the reserve fund in the school budget?

  4. Should the judges have considered this in their judgment on the schools’ finances?

  5. How well is it known that the Lawrence schools have millions in their reserve fund?

  6. Why is so much tax abatement given to some businesses when they approach Lawrence city government?

  7. Are these prospective businesses unsure they can make it when they come to Lawrence?

  8. Could some of those millions be channeled back into infrastructure and an increase in salaries of emergency responders?

  9. What effect will increases in taxes have on charities?

  10. Will there be an increase in bankruptcies?

  11. Will there be an increase in robberies and threats to life?

  12. Have the people who could have helped in solving these problems been aborted?
