Letter to the editor: A few questions
To the editor:
The following are questions I would like to have your readers consider:
-
What will be the result of increasing taxes and the number of taxes?
-
Will the number of consumers decrease, thus less merchandise bought?
-
What is the purpose of the reserve fund in the school budget?
-
Should the judges have considered this in their judgment on the schools’ finances?
-
How well is it known that the Lawrence schools have millions in their reserve fund?
-
Why is so much tax abatement given to some businesses when they approach Lawrence city government?
-
Are these prospective businesses unsure they can make it when they come to Lawrence?
-
Could some of those millions be channeled back into infrastructure and an increase in salaries of emergency responders?
-
What effect will increases in taxes have on charities?
-
Will there be an increase in bankruptcies?
-
Will there be an increase in robberies and threats to life?
-
Have the people who could have helped in solving these problems been aborted?
