Lawrence High senior defensive back/receiver Ekow Boye-Doe announced Monday he was committing to play college football at Kansas State.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Boye-Doe picked the Wildcats over offers from Kansas, Tulane, Missouri State, Northern Iowa and Northwest Missouri State.

In a message on Twitter, Boye-Doe thanked his family and high school coaches Dirk Wedd and Jeff Colter.

“All of these people have helped me become the young man I am today,” wrote Boye-Doe, who is listed as a two-star recruit by Rivals.

Boye-Doe starts on both sides of the ball for the Lions (5-4), who advanced the second round of the Class 6A state playoffs last week, but is expected to play cornerback in college.

During the summer, Boye-Doe attracted attention when he was clocked running a 40-yard dash at 4.38 seconds. He made an unofficial visit to K-State on Sept. 30. The Wildcats were his first offer from a Division 1 FBS program in July.
