Kansas senior Kayla Morrison scored a goal with less than six minutes remaining Friday, lifting the KU soccer team to a 2-1 comeback win over unbeaten Texas at Rock Chalk Park.

Off a corner kick from sophomore Katie McClure, Morrison poked the ball into the back of the net after the No. 9-ranked Longhorns (11-1-2, 3-1-2 in Big 12) failed to clear the ball from in front of their own net.

It’s the second win for the Jayhawks (7-6-2, 2-2-1) against a Top 10 opponent, beating defending national champion USC in early September.

“I’m just proud of the kids today,” said head coach Mark Francis. “This group is very resilient. It doesn’t matter what the score is, they just keep fighting. The second half, we were tremendous. I had absolutely no doubt that we were going to win it based on the way the kids were playing.”

Kansas trailed 1-0 at halftime, but Lois Heuchan scored a goal in the 56th minute on a pass from Grace Hagan.

The Jayhawks outshot Texas, 22-9, including a 15-3 advantage in the second half.
