Area football roundup: Eudora ends losing streak, Tonganoxie stays undefeated

Eudora High’s football team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 37-27 home victory over Ottawa on Friday.

The Cardinals (2-4) pulled away with a strong third quarter, opening the second half with a 40-yard touchdown run by Alex Brown. Eudora’s defense added a safety on a punt out the end zone.

Eudora will go on the road to play No. 1-ranked Bishop Miege next week.

In the final game before starting district play in Class 4A, Tonganoxie’s football team remained unbeaten with a 41-8 rout over Kansas City Turner in the school’s homecoming game.

With several long scoring plays, Tonganoxie quarterback Mason Beach tossed three touchdowns and ran for another score.

The Chieftains (6-0) will travel to Atchison next week.

De Soto 42, Baldwin 0

Facing unbeaten De Soto on Friday, Baldwin High’s football team suffered a 42-0 road loss in the final week before opening Class 4A district play.

It’s the second straight week the Bulldogs (3-3) have been shutout. De Soto’s running back Trevor Watts ran for three touchdowns, while Leo Oplotnik, Darren Winans and Shane Watts added scores.

Baldwin will play host to Bishop Ward next week.

Nemaha Central 30, Perry-Lecompton 13

Perry-Lecompton’s football team couldn’t hold off No. 1-ranked Nemaha Central in a 30-13 home loss Friday at home.

Dalton Kellum, who had 184 rushing yards, scored both touchdowns for the Kaws (4-2), who have lost back-to-back games.

The Kaws will travel to Royal Valley next week.
