In the preseason Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll, the Free State and Lawrence High boys basketball teams were both ranked inside of the top three, announced earlier this week.

After both schools earned trips to the Class 6A state semifinals last year, the Firebirds are ranked No. 2 and the Lions follow as No. 3.

Among the girls basketball programs in 6A, Lawrence is ranked No. 5 and Free State is ranked No. 9.

Perry-Lecompton’s boys basketball team is ranked No. 7 in Class 3A and Baldwin High’s girls basketball team is No. 10 in 4A-II.
