City cross country runners compete at Nike Heartland regional

Bishop Seabury sophomore Henry Nelson ran to 13th place in the Nike Heartland Cross Regional last weekend in the boys’ rising stars race in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Nelson, who competed at the meet alongside several Free State runners, crossed the finish line in 16:26.3.

In the girls championship race, FSHS junior Julia Larkin placed 98th in 18:59.8 while sophomore Erin Fagan placed 146th in 19:29.0. Sophomore Madeline Day took 55th in the girls’ rising star race and sophomore Bella Stull finished 61st. Sophomore Emily Stone was 96th in the community competitive 5K.

Free State junior Charlie Johnson was 196th in the boys championship race in 16:36.9. John Loos and Brock Cordova ran in the open race, placing 331st and 418th, respectively.

All eight FSHS runners ran season-best times.
