Area football roundup: Tonganoxie, Baldwin fall in playoffs

Tonganoxie’s football team saw its undefeated season come to an end in a 42-7 loss to De Soto (9-1) in the first round of the Class 4A-I playoffs Friday at Tonganoxie.

Dalton Bock scored the Chieftains’ lone touchdown in the third quarter, running for a 61-yard score.

The Chieftains ended the season with a 9-1 record after their first 9-0 start to the season since 1962.

Holton 9, Baldwin 8

Baldwin High’s football team fumbled the opening kickoff Thursday and couldn’t recover from an early deficit in a 9-8 loss to Holton in the first round of the Class 4A-II playoffs at Liston Stadium.

Luke Laskowski ran for a 47-yard touchdown on the game’s final play, and the Bulldogs, who ended the season with a 6-4 record, completed the two-point conversion.
