Lawrence High senior Cole Brungardt was named a 2016-17 scholar-athlete award winner by the Sunflower Chapter of the National Football Foundation on Wednesday.

Brungardt was honored at the chapter’s annual dinner, which recognizes its scholar-athlete’s academic, athletic and community service achievements.

Brungardt, who has signed to kick at the University of Kansas, made a pair of field goals for the Lions last season and earned all-Sunflower League honors.
