Abbi Folks, 2017 Athletic All-Star finalist

A multi-sport senior, Folks wrote her name across the volleyball record books. She set the school’s career assists record (1,024) and ranked second in program history in career digs (768). In basketball, she led the Kaws with 9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, and she’s helped the school’s softball team become a strong program in Class 3A.


Faith Hedges, Bishop Seabury

The only girls golfer in her school’s program, Hedges only competed in two tournaments in her freshman season. She won a regional title in her debut, then followed with a Class 3-2-1A state championship the next week. Hedges became the only state champion golfer in school history, carding an 84 at the state tournament.


Naomi Hickman, Free State

Naomi Hickman, 2017 Athletic All-Star finalist

Leading the Firebirds to their first Class 6A state tournament appearance since 2004, Hickman earned an all-state honorable mention. She registered a team-best 284 kills, breaking the school’s record for career kills with 730. Signed to play at Creighton, the 6-foot-4 middle hitter helped her team to second place in the Sunflower League.


Rachel Hickman, Free State

Hickman earned first-team all-state honors after registering 234 kills. The outside hitter was named to the Class 6A state all-tournament team, guiding the Firebirds to a 2-1 record in their first trip to state in 12 seasons. Only a sophomore, Hickman is ranked among the top players in the nation and has committed to play at Kansas.


Tori Huslig, Veritas Christian

A four-year starter, Huslig finished her basketball career with a school-record 1,756 points. Huslig, who has signed to play college softball at Central Oklahoma, helped the Eagles to fourth place at the KCAA state basketball tournament, averaging a team-best 20.3 points per game.


Abby Ogle, Baldwin

Abby Ogle, 2017 Athletic All-Star finalist

An all-state basketball player, Ogle led the Bulldogs to a 19-3 record with 18.6 points per game and set a single-season school record for steals. In the spring, she is just as dominant on the track. Ogle has recorded some of the state’s fastest times in the 300-meter hurdles, including a seventh-place showing at the Kansas Relays.


Madison Piper, Free State

Madison Piper, 2017 Athletic All-Star finalist

Entering the season as the Firebirds’ all-time leading scorer, Piper finished her basketball career with 1,374 points. In her senior year, which was cut short when she broke her ankle, Piper earned first-team all-Sunflower League honors after averaging 15.9 points and 9.9 rebounds. She has signed to play at Santa Clara.


Evann Seratte, Lawrence

Evan Seratte, 2017 Athletic All-Star finalist

After a dynamic freshman season, Seratte has only dropped time on the track. The sophomore is among the state’s leaders in the 400- and 800-meters races, along with anchoring 4×400 and 4×800 relays. Seratte medaled in three events at the Class 6A state meet last year, including a state title in the 4×400 relay.


E’lease Stafford, Lawrence

E'lease Stafford, 2017 Athletic All-Star finalist

Throughout the offseason, Stafford recovered from torn ligaments in her left knee. When she returned to the court, the junior was better than ever and named co-Sunflower League Player of the Year. Leading the Lions to the Class 6A state tournament for the first time since 2008, Stafford averaged 13 points and five rebounds.
