Letter to the editor: KPERS qualms

To the editor:

“Whoopee doo.” Raises for state employees. The poor souls haven’t had a raise since 2008. KPERS retirees have not had a raise (COLA) for more than 25 years. The retirees always get the short end of the stick. Two governors have stolen more than $100 million from KPERS, because retirees don’t need it. One representative stated he would have a hard time voting for a raise for someone who makes $100,000 a year. That thought didn’t last long.

My thought is about making ends meet when everything goes up except my retirement income. Writing letters to complain about state policy on KPERS retirees doesn’t do any good, but it makes me feel better.
