Letter to the editor: Yard concerns

To the editor:

Once again our “city fathers” have made a decision without any public comment or public study. The Journal-World’s opinion page has spoken about the changes they have made to the time and manner that yard waste can be placed at the curb for pick-up. I have a real problem with their act.

I have a 3/4-acre yard with many trees. During spring cleanup and fall leaf time, I set out 10 32-gallon trash cans with packed leaves and limbs each pickup day. Now I only have one choice, which my neighbors will hate.

I cannot burn my problem. All I can do is pray for a high wind and pray that my good neighbors will not get too angry at me.

Our “city fathers” did not come up with this idea. This was passed on to them from city workers. Why should I labor? I can crawl out of the truck and pull a lever. Beside, we need fewer workers on our payroll. Oh, but we have to buy a few more $300,000 trucks.
