Ballock named DiRenna finalist

Eudora High senior Mitchell Ballock was named a finalist for the DiRenna Award on Friday, which is given to the most outstanding high school basketball player in the Kansas City metro area.

Ballock was one of five finalists for the most prestigious award from the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association, alongside Elijah Childs (Lee’s Summit West), Tyler Geiman (Blue Valley), Jacob Gilyard (Barstow) and Darien Jackson (Blue Valley Northwest).

The DiRenna Award winner will be announced April 6.

Ballock was also picked to the play in the Missouri vs. Kansas GKCBCA All-Star game, along with Lawrence High senior Jackson Mallory.

Eudora boys basketball coach Kyle Deterding will lead the Kansas squad, and Free State coach Sam Stroh will serve as an assistant.

The all-star game will be played April 7 at Shawnee Mission South.
