Letter to the editor: Health vote

To the editor:

The Kansas House of Representatives took a major step recently toward enhancing health coverage for Kansans. By a decisive 81-44 vote, the House passed a bill to expand KanCare, the state’s Medicaid program, to more than 150,000 Kansans, including about 5,000 here in Douglas County. The bill now moves on to the Senate, where it will have a hearing before the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee on March 20.

I’m happy to thank the members of the House delegation from Douglas County who voted in favor of this bill. Their vote for positive change moves us closer to a healthier and more prosperous future.
