Kansas’ men’s golf team was tied for second place after 36 holes in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate on Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Andy Spencer led the Jayhawks with a 5-under 139 total and was tied for seventh place.

KU was six shots behind leader Michigan in the 12-team tournament, tied with Northwestern at 8-under 568.

Other KU scores: Daniel Hudson (2-under 142, tied for 11th), Daniel Sutton (even-par 144, tied for 20th), Chase Hanna (3-over 147, tied for 30th) and Charlie Hillier (4-over 148, tied for 35th).

“Playing 36 holes is a grind, especially the first one of the semester,” KU coach Jamie Bermel said. “I thought we hung in there fairly well.”

The final round is set for today.
