Piper, Ballock nominated for McDonald’s All-American game

Free State High senior basketball standout Madison Piper and Eudora High’s Mitchell Ballock were nominated for the McDonald’s All-American games, announced Tuesday.

Piper, the Firebirds’ all-time leading scorer, was one of four girls nominated from Kansas. A two-time Sunflower League player of the year, Piper is averaging 18.5 points through six games this season. She’s signed to play at Santa Clara.

Ballock, signed to play at Creighton, is averaging 22 points per game and crossed the 1,000 career points milestone during Friday’s win. He was one of seven players from Kansas nominated for the boys game.

The final 24-player rosters will be announced Sunday. The games are scheduled for March 29 in Chicago.
