It didn’t take David Beaty long to find a new defensive line coach.

Days after news of Michael Slater’s departure from the Kansas football staff emerged, his replacement was identified.

Jon Kirby of Jayhawk Slant reported Wednesday night KU intends to add Jesse Williams as its fourth D-line coach in four seasons.

Williams has spent the previous five seasons working on Frank Solich’s staff at Ohio.

The Bobcats defeated Beaty’s Jayhawks, 37-21, at Memorial Stadium this past September, when Ohio limited Kansas to 26 rushing yards and made three tackles for loss.

In 2016, with Williams coaching the defensive line, Ohio ranked fifth in the nation in rushing defense (104.4 yards a game), and tied for 12th in sacks (3.14 a game) and 20th in tackles for loss (7.4 a game).

Previously, Williams had worked as a defensive assistant at New Mexico State, Nebraska-Kearney and Colorado State, as well as San Jose State, Eastern Washington, Holy Cross, Portland State and Sonoma State.
