Letter to the editor: Politics are not sports

To the editor:

When someone asks me why I support the Atlanta Falcons or the Kansas Jayhawks, my answer? I don’t know. I always have, so I just do. And I, like any other sports fans, will let my emotions ride with their success or failure. Why the attachment? Who knows, but it’s inconsequential. But, people are reacting the same way in politics. Why do you vote for Obama or Bush or … Roy Moore? Because the family does? Because the community always votes that way?

It leads to situations like the race in Alabama, where some people on the streets were boiled down to simply shrugging as to why they still supported their candidate. They just did.

Have politics always been this way? More importantly, will it always be this way?
