Stephen Johnson took first place in the 200-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle Friday, leading Lawrence High’s boys swimming team to fifth at the Olathe Invitational at Mission Trail Middle School.

Lawrence senior Alex Heckman followed Johnson with a runner-up finish in the 50 freestyle and third place in the 100 freestyle. Freshman Tyler Jones was fourth in the 500 freestyle.

Free State placed 13th in the team standings behind Jake Viscomi’s eighth-place finish in the 100 backstroke.
