Veritas volleyball takes 2nd in season-opening tourney

With an offensive attack led by Chloe Holland and Emma Wilson, Veritas Christian’s volleyball team opened the season by taking second place in the Kansas City East preseason tournament on Friday and Saturday, posting a 7-1 record.

The Eagles lost to the Little Rock Flames in the championship, 25-17, 25-11, 25-19, after defeating Topeka Cornerstone, Springfield Sparks, Sunrise Christian, KC East, WAHAA and Omaha Lightning. Veritas beat the Little Rock Flames prior to bracket play.

Holland led Veritas with 49 kills, 72 digs and 30 aces, while Wilson contributed 32 kills and 37 assists. Emma Boulton added 59 assists, Paxton Brittingham had 64 digs and Jessie Swisher recorded 13 kills and 40 digs.

Veritas will play in the Burlingame tournament Saturday.
