Lions split against Great Bend, Gardner-Edgerton in softball festival

Lawrence High split its two games at the Sunflower League Softball Festival on Saturday, winning 16-1 over Great Bend and losing 18-5 versus Gardner-Edgerton at Shawnee Mission Softball Complex.

Against Great Bend, LHS pitcher Zoe Brewer only allowed one hit in a run-rule shortened three innings while sophomore Angelina Harjo and freshman Karly Johnson hit home runs.

The Lions (5-6) gave up seven runs in the seventh inning against Gardner-Edgerton. Morgan Husman, Kampbell Kilburn and Annie Grammer all hit doubles.

Lawrence will travel to Olathe Northwest on Tuesday.
