Kansas baseball tops Oklahoma

Jackson Goddard allowed two runs and struck out seven in seven innings, and Kansas’ baseball team defeated Oklahoma, 5-2, on Saturday in Norman, Okla.

Stephen Villines pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to record his 11th save.

The Jayhawks (19-19, 8-6 Big 12) broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Devin Foyle and an RBI single by Jaxx Groshans.

“It is a great day to be a Jayhawk,” KU coach Ritch Price said. “I can’t tell you how proud I am of Goddard. I have been waiting for him to become a big-time guy and he proved that yet again today.”

KU and OU (27-15, 5-6) will wrap up the series at 1 p.m. Sunday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
