Letter to the editor: Grateful after fire

To the editor:

On March 6, 2017, our world was changed forever when the Starbuck Fire consumed our land, cattle and equipment near Bucklin, Kan.

But in the three weeks since that fire, we have already begun to rebuild. Through this devastation we have met the most incredibly giving people from our own communities and from across the great Midwest. It’s due to these people’s generosity and support that we can begin to start over. We may have a long road ahead, but it is so comforting to know we are not alone! We are eternally grateful for every bale of hay, fence post and wire, food, prayers, and the list goes on and on …

The Kirk family is truly thankful and humbled by it all.
