Overland Park ? Facing the top-ranked team in the state, Free State High’s volleyball team lost in straight sets on the road at undefeated Blue Valley West on Thursday, 25-22, 25-15.

With some trouble passing, the Firebirds couldn’t create much offense. FSHS senior Naomi Hickman led with five kills and freshman Mya Gleason had five assists and six digs.

The Firebirds (19-5, ranked No. 6 in Class 6A) snapped a 13-match winning streak.
