Lawrence man injured after crashing 1927 Ford convertible in rural Douglas County

A Lawrence man was injured Thursday afternoon after his car flipped into a ditch in rural Douglas County, police said.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol accident report, around 12:35 p.m., 76-year-old Gary McLeod was northbound on Kansas Highway 33, north of Wellsville when he lost control of his car, a 1927 Ford convertible.

The car flipped and came to a rest upside down and facing south, the report says.

McLeod was injured in the single-vehicle crash and taken to an Overland Park hospital, the report says. He was wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash.
