Rachel Hickman commits to KU volleyball

Along with leading Free State High’s volleyball team to a 9-4 record and No. 7 ranking in Class 6A, sophomore Rachel Hickman was weighing her options for college volleyball.

On Tuesday, Hickman made her decision and made an oral commitment to the University of Kansas volleyball program, according to a post on her club volleyball team’s Instagram.

Hickman, a 6-foot-3 outside hitter, ranks second on the Firebirds this season with 63 kills, 31 blocks and 11 aces in 13 games.

Prior to the season, Hickman was named to PrepVolleyball.com’s club volleyball All-American honorable mention list, which meant she was ranked in the top-40 in the nation for 15-year-olds.

Hickman’s older sister, FSHS senior Naomi Hickman, has an oral commitment to Creighton. Naomi Hickman leads the Firebirds with 70 kills and 41 blocks, adding 11 aces.
