De Soto ? After trailing by a goal at halftime, Free State High’s boys soccer team exploded for three goals in the second half, earning a 3-1 victory at De Soto on Monday.

With under eight minutes left, the Firebirds (2-0) scored their final two goals, including the game winner, within 30 seconds of each other. Free State senior Heitor Nazareth scored twice, senior Brennan Clark added the other goal and Branden Patterson had three assists.

Daniel Apple scored for De Soto (4-1, ranked No. 3 in Class 4-1A) in the first half.

Free State will travel to Shawnee Mission Northwest at 7 p.m. today.
