Olathe ? Free State High’s boys and girls cross country teams both placed second in the season-opening Olathe East Classic at Lone Elm Park.

Split between freshmen/sophomore and junior/senior races, Free State sophomore Julia Larkin and senior Emily Venters won each of the girls’ races, while sophomore Landon Sloan won one of the boys’ races. Avant Edwards was Free State’s top placer in the boys junior/senior race, taking fourth.

The Firebirds will compete in the Millard (Neb.) South Invitational at 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 9.
