DeWitt, Jumping Eagle qualify for state cross country
Overland Park ? Lawrence High junior Carson Jumping Eagle and sophomore Anna DeWitt are both headed to the Class 6A cross country meet for the first time in their careers.
Jumping Eagle and DeWitt qualified as individuals — the first five runners who aren’t members of state qualifying teams — at their regional Saturday at Johnson County Community College. Jumping Eagle was 13th in the boys race in 17:20, while DeWitt took 12th in the girls race in 20:13.
Both of Lawrence’s cross country teams took seventh in the team standings.
