Traffic restricted on Bob Billings Parkway after crews hit gas line

Traffic was blocked off for a portion of Bob Billings Parkway late Thursday morning after construction crews hit a gas line, city officials say.

Around 10 a.m., crews hit a gas line within the 3300 block of Bob Billings Parkway, said Steve Lashley of Lawrence’s Public Works Department.

A short portion of the road, just east of Kasold Drive, was blocked off immediately after the line was hit, Lashley said. But within an hour, traffic was back open with one lane traveling in each direction.

City and Black Hills Energy crews were still working to fix the line late Thursday morning, Lashley said. It was not immediately clear how long the work would take.

Additional information was not immediately available.
