New federal overtime laws take effect Dec. 1, and the Lawrence chamber of commerce has partnered with BizFuel to host a free seminar on Oct. 25.

The event, “Labor Law Seminar: The Overtime Rule,” will include presentations and a question and answer session. A panel will include attorneys, a representative from the Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division and a staffing specialist from Express Employment Professionals, which is sponsoring the event.

The seminar is free and open to the public. It will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 25 in the auditorium of the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St.
