Ballock signs with Creighton

Eudora sophomore Mitchell Ballock shoots over Tonganoxie senior Jared Sommers (12) during the first round of the Tonganoxie Invitational Tuesday in Tonganoxie.

Eudora High basketball standout Mitchell Ballock signed his letter of intent to play at Creighton on Wednesday.

Ballock, ranked No. 58 in the country by Rivals.com, led Eudora to a Class 4A-II state championship in 2014 as a freshman.

The 6-foot-4 left-handed guard earned all-state honors during his freshman and sophomore seasons, but missed most of last year with a torn labrum.

“We are excited to add a player of Mitch’s caliber to Creighton,” Creighton coach Greg McDermott said. “He has a high skill level, tremendous basketball IQ and is versatile enough to compete for immediate playing time.”

Ballock picked Creighton over offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Indiana, Oklahoma, among several others.
